Trip Description
Explore the hills north of Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son through a unique combination of elephant trekking, white-water rafting, mountain biking, jungle trekking, hilltribe village visits, and scenic four-wheel-drive adventures across Northern Thailand.
Itinerary
Chiang Mai → Mae Taeng → Hmong Hilltribe Lodge
Pick up from hotels, airport, railway station, or bus terminal in Chiang Mai.
Depart by 4WD Land Rover or similar vehicle to Mae Taeng Elephant Camp.
Enjoy a one-hour elephant safari through rainforest jungle, including an ox-cart ride. After a picnic lunch, board an inflatable raft and enjoy approximately one hour of white-water rafting on the scenic Mae Taeng River (season dependent).
Continue by 4WD through villages, orchards, valleys, and rice fields. Visit Wat Tha Kham before ascending to Ban Pang Hai, a Hmong village situated 830 metres above sea level.

Mountain Biking & Hmong Villages
After breakfast, travel by 4WD to Ban Teen Doi and take a short stroll to Mae Pa.
Begin mountain biking to Ban Palan and visit a small village reservoir. Continue riding to Ban Pong Kwaw to explore an old temple with beautiful wall paintings.
After a picnic lunch, travel through Ban Pok, Ban Pang Kwai, and Nong Hoi Mai Hmong village. Continue trekking or mountain biking downhill to Mae Khi village where you can enjoy tea or coffee in a traditional Hmong home.

Chiang Mai → Mae Hong Son
After breakfast, depart for a full-day overland adventure to Mae Hong Son along rarely used mountain roads through dense jungle and remote countryside.
Visit Luang Mae Saab Cave, Ban Hmong Mae Tala where traditional blacksmiths still use ancient tools, and Baan Karen Huey Tong where villagers pound rice and weave clothing using traditional
methods.
Lunch and dinner are served in local restaurants before checking in at your Mae Hong Son accommodation.

Mae Hong Son → Chiang Mai
Visit Mae Hong Son morning market before driving to Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu for panoramic views across Mae Hong Son and the surrounding valleys.
After breakfast, continue by 4WD to Ban Nai Soi Karen Long Neck Village and a Khaya Karen settlement.
Continue through the jungle to Padong Village to visit the famous Long Neck Padong tribe. After a picnic lunch, return to Mae Hong Son.
If time permits, visit the Burmese-style temples… Wat Chong Kham and Wat Chong Klang before transfer to Mae Hong Son Airport for the flight to Chiang Mai and onward connections.
